RELATED STANDARDS: 4A branded crepe papers are in compliance with the provisions of the Medical Device Regulation 2017/745 for medical devices.

INTENDED USE: Sterility assurance is a critical cornerstone of effective patient care. Therefore, the medical device wrapping is a very important step of the sterilization process. Suitable wrapping techniques and proper wrapping material use provide a sterile barrier during and after the sterilization process. 4A Crepe paper is used to wrap materials to be sterilized like trays, surgical kits. Crepe paper is preferred instead of fabric due to the smaller pore structures.

OPERATION CONDITIONS: 4A Crepe papers are used for steam, ethylene oxide, formaldehyde and gamma irradiation sterilization methods. The sterilization conditions should be determined by the end user regarding the material to be sterilized.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL: It must be boxed with polyethylene bags in as much as it shall not be damaged by external factors during storage and shipment. It must be kept away from toxic substances. The date of manufacturing and expiry date are stated on the outer packing. Shelf life is 5 years after the production date.

Type 6 Steam Chemical Indicators are cycle verification indicators that confirm the presence or absence of specific time, temperature and pressure parameters during a cycle. Type 6 Steam Chemical Indicator 3,5 minutes operates up to 15 minutes at 121°C or up to 3,5 minutes at 134°C. Before the sterilization process of medical equipment and surgical instruments, there is a prewashing procedure. By the means of this procedure, blood residues remaining on especially surgical instruments that cause cross infection is surely cleaned. After Washing/Disinfection steps, there might be some residues or contaminants left in varying colors that can be observed. It is very essential to identify if the residue is of blood or corrosion, in order to carry out sterilization properly or otherwise to dispose the equipment. This blood residue test developed in our laboratories is an indicator which changes color only with a specific enzyme in the blood. By using this test, it is very easy to identify trace amounts of blood. Without a need of long incubation time, our test is able to identify up to~0.1micrograms of blood in residue, faster than any other test methods, that is as short as 10 seconds
