RELATED STANDARDS: 4A Medical Steam Documentation Label is classified as Type 1 Indicator according to the ISO 11140-1 standard.

INTENDED USE: 4A Medical Steam Documentation Labels allow the end user to identify loading problems and sterilization failures.

OPERATION CONDITIONS: 4A Medical Steam Documentation Labels are designed to operate at steam cycle.

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION: The sterilization indicator ink used for printing contains the following components in ppm levels:

  • Water (CAS#7732-18-5): 35%
  • Diacetone Alcohol (CAS #123-42-2): 3%
  • Proprietary Mixture (CAS #N/A): 62%

Contains no substance classified as hazardous, which should be taken into account according to EC directives.

Indicator

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS: Each roll contains 500 pieces of self-adhesive stickers (double adhesive) with indicator. The indicator is printed on the sticker and it is temperature, time, and steam concentration sensitive.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL: The expired products are not used. It’s kept in places with room temperature without humidity and sunlight. It shouldn’t be in contact with liquid. Damaged and defective products are not used. Shelf life is 5 years after the production date. After sterilization, the indicator keeps its sterilization color for 6 months.

Before the sterilization process of medical equipment and surgical instruments, there is a prewashing procedure. By the means of this procedure, blood residues remaining on especially surgical instruments that cause cross infection is surely cleaned. After Washing/Disinfection steps, there might be some residues or contaminants left in varying colors that can be observed. It is very essential to identify if the residue is of blood or corrosion, in order to carry out sterilization properly or otherwise to dispose the equipment. This blood residue test developed in our laboratories is an indicator which changes color only with a specific enzyme in the blood. By using this test, it is very easy to identify trace amounts of blood. Without a need of long incubation time, our test is able to identify up to~0.1micrograms of blood in residue, faster than any other test methods, that is as short as 10 seconds
